Why I Walked Away from a Lucrative Opportunity

Recently, I turned down what would probably have

been a very lucrative opportunity.
Not because it wasn’t tempting. Not because it wasn’t well presented. But because my ethics are not for sale.
I will keep the details vague, but I was approached by someone entering the supplement space. They had a product that claimed to help lower cholesterol and support weight loss, and they wanted my opinion on whether it could be a good fit for my audience.
On the surface, this might sound reasonable. After all, many people with high cholesterol are actively looking for solutions, and supplements are everywhere.
But I said no.
Here’s why.
My entire ethos is built around helping people step away from quick fixes. Not leaning into them.
I spend a lot of my time helping people unlearn the idea that there is a pill, powder or product that can compensate for habits and behaviours we know are harming our health. A “wonder supplement” that allows us to turn a blind eye to how we eat, move, sleep, cope with stress, or relate to food.
And that simply isn’t something I am willing to promote.
Cholesterol is only part of the picture
One thing that often gets overlooked in the cholesterol conversation is this: protecting your heart is about far more than getting a number into the “normal” range.
Whether someone takes supplements or statins, the evidence is clear. If you want the best possible protection for your heart and long-term health, lifestyle matters. Massively.
Nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, alcohol, smoking, mindset, consistency over time. These things shape cardiovascular risk in ways no supplement can undo on its own.
That is the work I care about.
The easy option would have been very easy
I have a growing platform of almost 10,000 people, many of whom are concerned about their cholesterol. It would be incredibly easy for me to affiliate with supplement companies, promote products, and make quick money.
What is far less easy is:
Spending thousands of hours creating a comprehensive handbook
Designing and filming webinars
Building a recipe book
Dedicating a significant chunk of my working week to research and ongoing education
Creating content that challenges diet culture and encourages sustainable change
Supporting people to improve not just their habits, but their mindset too
That work is slower. It is harder. But it is far more meaningful.
Why supplements feel safer than programmes
I completely understand why buying a box of supplements for £100 can feel safer than investing in an online programme.
Supplements are tangible. You can see them. Hold them. Put them in your cupboard. It feels like you have bought something real.
But once that box is empty, it’s gone.
And often, all you are left with is the need to buy another one. And another. Possibly for years.
What you do not gain is understanding. Or skills. Or confidence. Or the ability to make informed decisions without relying on a product.
What I offer instead
My programme is not a quick fix. It is not glamorous. And it does not promise shortcuts.
What it does do is equip you with tools, knowledge and skills that you can use for life.
You learn how to eat in a way that supports your heart in the real world. You learn how to move your body sustainably. You learn how to navigate setbacks without giving up. You learn how to stop swinging between “all in” and “I’ve blown it”.
That knowledge stays with you long after a pot of pills would have been forgotten.
And that is why I will continue to choose the harder path.
Because your health deserves more than a shortcut.
If you’re ready to stop outsourcing your health to supplements and start building skills you can rely on for life, my Heart-Healthy Living Course may be the right next step. Details are available here.
